The name is pronounced in the local dialect Piat' Gialos and means seashore which has relatively large amplitude, spacious beach.
It is the busiest beach on the island and is considered one of the longest beaches in the Cyclades.
Useful Information
In summer the island is connected by boat from Piraeus and the islands of Milos every day. The duration of the trip with the traditional ferries of the line is 6 hours and with the hydrofoil and the high-speed catamaran lasts 2:30-3 hours.
Is also connected by sea with many islands of the Cyclades: Paros, Naksos, Mykonos, Tinos, Siros, Folegandros, Ios, Sandorini etc. and with Crete by Milos.
